1. Who are We and what this Privacy Notice is for?
As part of any application and recruitment process with Us, Verisure, (“We”, “Us”, “Our”) acting as a data controller collects, stores, uses, and deletes candidates’ personal data (“You”, “Your”) and is responsible for deciding how We hold and use it. This Privacy Notice makes You aware of certain information that We must provide You under applicable data protection legislations, such as how and why Your personal data will be used, how long it will usually be retained for and which and how to exercise Your data protection rights.
It is important that the personal data We hold about You is accurate and up to date. Please keep Us informed if Your personal data changes and / or needs to be rectified during Your application and recruitment process with Us.
We ask You to please not share with Us personal data that has not been requested by Us, particularly sensitive personal information as described below. If You consider You may need to share with Us sensitive personal information for the recruitment and application process, please contact Us before sharing it.
If You do not want Your personal data to be used according to the conditions below, please do not submit Your personal data to Us through any of Our available channels.
This Privacy Notice may be updated from time-to-time. We shall inform You about any such update on Our website and shall consider that You accept such updates unless You expressly inform Us about Your rejection of Our updated terms, in which case You understand that such refusal shall lead to Us stopping of processing Your personal data and its deletion.

2. What personal data We hold about You?
In connection with Your application and recruitment process with Us, We will collect, store, and use the following categories of personal information about You:
- Names, last names, address, telephone number, email address, holder of a driving licence (to the extent required for a position).
- Curriculum vitae, covering letter, diplomas, education, qualifications, work and training history, languages, and reference statements.
- Proximity to a job role and / or location, skills and competences, relevancy for a job role, former and / or current job title.
- Interviews (including the video recordings).
- Assessments carried out as part of the recruitment process.
- Preferences in relation to Your application (including areas of interests).
- Any other personal data You voluntarily provide Us through Our channels (including WhatsApp, if applicable).
In addition, We will collect, store, and use the following categories of personal information about You:
- Confirmation You are above the legal age and holder of a permit to work (to the extent required by applicable legislations and / or regulatory requirements).
- Personal data provided and / or retrieved from Your social networks to Us (such as LinkedIn, Facebook, or Google), which shall however only be processed by Ourselves when You register at Our career websites using Your social network credentials. This personal data may include the categories of personal information described above. Before registering at Our career websites using Your social networks credentials, We encourage You to check out Your sharing settings on those social networks to avoid sharing with Us any additional information.
- The data that is generated from You if accessing to Our career websites via the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (Secure) – HTTP(S) for technical reasons ("HTTP Data") (to the extent that data is made available to Us). This includes, for example, IP address, type and version of Your internet browser, operating system used, the page called up, the page previously visited, date and time of the call.
- The data that is generated as You interact with Our career websites, such as to the technical data about Your equipment, browsing actions and patterns. We collect this personal data by using cookies and other similar technologies (to the extent that You have consented to the use of Cookies, except for the strictly necessary ones). Please see Our Cookies Notice for further details.
We may also collect, store, and use the following types of more sensitive personal information about Your:
- Criminal convictions and offences (to the extent required by the position You are applying for and based upon Our prevailing interest).
- Health, including any medical condition, disabilities, and sickness records (to the extent required to provide appropriate adjustments during the application and / or recruitment process – such as during a test or interview and based upon Our prevailing interest and Your interest in the context of Your application).
3. How is Your personal information collected?
We collect personal information about You from the following sources:
- You.
- Your named referees (please ensure having their prior authorisation to share their personal data with Us and sharing this Privacy Notice to them).
- Recruitment agency, recruiters, and head-hunters.
- LinkedIn and job boards.
4. How will We use Your personal data?
To process Your application and for the recruitment process, particularly:
- To apply for a specific position.
- To assess Your skills, qualifications, location, and suitability for positions (including Candidate Assessment).
- To set up personalised experience and / or job recommendations (when You upload Your curriculum vitae and have it analysed and / or have questions answered).
- To communicate with You about the recruitment process, including through WhatsApp (if You sign up for WhatsApp).
- To communicate with You Job Alerts that match Your search and / or personalised criteria (if You sign up to receive Job Alerts and / or join Our Talent Community).
- To register at Our career websites using Your social networks credentials (if You register at Our career websites using Your social network credentials).
- To set up Your personal account at Our career websites.
- To interact with Our chatbot.
- To keep records related to Our hiring processes.
To administer and protect Us and Our career websites (including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, system maintenance, support, reporting, hosting of data, detect and investigate fraud or illegal activity).
To improve processes and tools (to the extent that it is has not been fully anonymised).
As required for a merger, acquisition or sale of all or a portion of assets. In such a case, the successor company will acquire the same rights and obligations that We have related to Your personal data.
To comply with applicable legislations and / or regulatory requirements such as:
- Confirmation You are above the legal age (to verify You are allowed to work with Us in the country of application).
- Holder of a permit to work (to verify You are entitled to work with Us in the country of application).
- Criminal convictions and offences (to verify You are allowed to work with Us in the country of application for a specific position).
- To respond to a government and / or Court request.
5. What are the legal bases for processing Your personal data?
Legal bases:
- To process Your application and for the recruitment process: We need to process Your personal data for the application and recruitment process to take all necessary steps so as to potentially enter into an agreement with You (see below Your data protection rights).
- To communicate with You about the recruitment process through WhatsApp (if You sign up for WhatsApp): Your consent (see below Your right to withdraw consent).
- To communicate job offers to You (if You sign up to receive Job Alerts and / or join Our Talent Community): Your consent (see below Your right to withdraw consent).
- To administer and protect Us and Our career websites: Our prevailing interests for running Our company, provision of administration and IT services, network security and to prevent fraud (see below Your data protection rights).
- To share data with third parties that provide Us services supporting Your application and recruitment process, as well as to facilitate post-offer processes: Our prevailing interest to have tools for effective administration of recruitment processes and for finding relevant candidates for vacancies, so as to potentially enable Us to enter into a contract with You (see below Your data protection rights).
- To improve processes and tools (to the extent that it has not been fully anonymised): Our prevailing interest to ensure to provide better, more functional services, and safer services (see below Your data protection rights).
- As required for a merger, acquisition or sale of all or a portion of assets: Our prevailing interests in the context of a business reorganisation or group restructuring process (see below Your data protection rights).
- To provide appropriate adjustments during the application and / or recruitment process, including any medical condition, disabilities, and sickness records to the extent that is not required by applicable legislations and / or regulatory requirements: Our prevailing interests and Your interest in the context of Your application (see below Your data protection rights).
- To comply with applicable legislations and / or regulatory requirements: applicable legal or regulatory requirement.
Expected candidate journey
Having received Your application, We will then process it to decide whether You meet the requirements to be shortlisted for a position. If You do, We will decide whether Your application is strong enough to invite You for an interview. If We decide to contact You for an interview, We will use the personal data provided to Us to decide whether to offer You the position. If We decide to offer You the position, We may then need to carry out final checks before confirming Your appointment. The above-described journey may vary, for instance, depending on the requirements of the position You are applying to.
If You fail to provide personal information
We will inform You if We need You to provide Us further information that it is necessary for Us to process Your application and why We need it. Please note that if You fail to provide information when requested (which is necessary for Us to consider Your application and / or request including for when required by legislations and / or regulatory requirements), We will not be able to process Your application and / or request successfully.
6. Automated processing
- Automated Decision-Making. We do not envisage that You will be subject to decisions that will have a legal effect and / or significant impact on You based solely on automated decision-making. However, We will notify You in writing if this position changes.
- Automated processing: “Candidate Assessment”. We will (through the Phenom People environment) evaluate Your suitability for a position based particularly on Your proximity and / or location, skills and competences, relevancy for a job role and former and / or current job title. Such assessment will then be reviewed by a (human) recruiter in conjunction with all the other relevant information about You, as part of the application and recruitment process.
- Curriculum vitae parsing. We will (through the Phenom People environment) automatically parse Your curriculum vitae to fill out Our forms. Prior to submitting Your curriculum vitae, We ask You to check its content, accuracy, spelling, grammar etc.
It is important that the personal data We hold about You is accurate and current. Please keep Us informed if Your personal data changes and / or needs to be rectified during Your application and recruitment process with Us, particularly by exercising Your data protection rights of access and rectification (see below for further information on how to exercise Your rights).
7. Whom do We share Your personal data with, what for and where will it be processed?
Internally (including Our Group entities). Your personal data will be shared internally and with other entities of Our Group for the uses and purposes listed above. These include members of the HR team, hiring managers involved in the recruitment process, managers in the business area with the vacancy and IT staff if access to Your personal data is necessary for the performance of their roles.
Third parties. We may provide Your personal data to third parties:
- To provide services supporting Your application and recruitment process (including for maintenance support and hosting purposes) as well as to facilitate post-offer processes (including certain steps involved in initiating the employment relationship). These third parties are authorised to use Your personal data only as necessary to provide these services for the purposes herein listed (including improving the tools and services) subject to compliance with their applicable regulatory environment and duly contractual agreements in place to that effect with Us. Such third parties change from time-to-time but may include Phenom People, Workday, WhatsApp (if applicable), LinkedIn (if applicable) and their respective third-party providers.
- To protect Your health and safety, or the health and safety of others.
- Where We are obliged to do so in compliance with legal and / or regulatory requirements or in compliance with Our obligations in respect of regulatory bodies, government bodies, agencies, or courts and court-appointed persons.
- To respond to government requests.
- To detect and investigate frauds or illegal activities.
- To protect Our rights and / or property.
- As required for a merger, acquisition or sale of all or a portion of assets. In such a case, the successor company will acquire the same rights and obligations that We have related to Your personal data.
Transfers outside of Switzerland. We and / or the third parties We have engaged may need to transfer Your personal data to countries outside of Switzerland. If the third country of destination (including the U.S.A.) does not currently provide an adequate level of data protection according to applicable data protection legislations (i.e., Federal Data Protection Act), We will ensure to have in place appropriate measures to comply with applicable data protection legislations and regulatory requirements, such as the use of the standard contractual clauses for international transfers. Please note that Workday (for its intra-group transfer) may rely on its binding corporate rules rather than using standard contractual clauses for international transfers. You can always contact Us should You have doubts and / or require further information.
8. How do We protect Your personal data?
We take the security of Your personal data seriously. We have internal policies and controls in place to protect Your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered, or disclosed. We have put in place procedures to deal with suspected personal data security breaches and will notify You and any applicable regulator of a suspected breach where We are legally required to do so. You can always contact Us should You have doubts and / or require further information.
9. For how long We keep Your personal data?
Retention period. We will process Your personal data according to the retention periods below after which We will cease using Your personal data, duly block, and delete it in Our corresponding database. In case You have:
- Applied for a position, 1 year counting from the date of the end of the last application and recruitment process (it means that in case of several applications the counting starts at the end of the last application and recruitment process). In case of rejection, the personal data You submitted to Us in relation to a particular job opening will be kept for 1 year to enable Us to take Your application into account for similar job openings in the future. Should You spontaneously apply during that 1-year period to other job openings, this new application shall lead to a new 1-year period. You may however at any time request Us to delete your information prior to the expiration of that 1-year period (see below Your right to erasure).
- Signed up for Job Alerts (including Talent Community), set up personalised experience and / or job recommendations, and / or created an account at Our career websites only (it means without applying to a position), 1 year counting from the date of Your signing up and / or creation of Your account.
Extended retention period based on Your consent. If You have consented to Us processing Your personal data for a longer retention period, Your personal data will be kept for another 2 years counting from the above-mentioned retention periods.
HTTP(s) data. We may temporarily process HTTP(s) in web server log files. The log data is stored in server log files in a form that allows You to be identified for a maximum period of a couple of days unless a security-relevant event occurs (for instance a DDoS attack). In the case of a security-relevant event, server log files are stored until the security-relevant event has been removed and fully resolved.
Extended retention period based on other legal bases. Please note that We may need to keep processing Your personal data but only for the purposes of addressing a legal and / administrative claim, to duly block You from Our databases (such as when You opt-out of receiving Job Alerts to ensure You will not further receive communications), or to comply with legal and / or regulatory requirements.
10. How to contact Us, what are and how to exercise Your data protection rights in connection with Your personal data?
Data protection rights. Subject to the requirement of applicable data protection legislations (such as the legal basis for processing Your personal data), You have the following data protection rights:
- Request access to Your personal data. This enables You to receive a copy of the personal data We hold about You and to check that We are lawfully processing it.
- Request rectification of Your personal data. This enables You to have any incomplete or inaccurate information We hold about You corrected.
- Request erasure of Your personal data. This enables You to ask Us to delete personal data where there is no good reason for Us continuing to process it. Note, however, that We may not always be able to comply with Your request of erasure for specific legal reasons, which will be notified to You, if applicable.
- Request the portability of Your personal data to You or another party. We will provide to You, or a third party You have chosen, Your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. Note that this right only applies to automated information which You initially provided based upon Your consent when such personal data is processed to perform a contract with You.
- Right to withdraw consent (if processing is based on Your consent). If We process Your personal data based on Your consent, You have the right to withdraw Your consent for processing for that purpose at any time by contacting Us. Please note that it will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out by Us before consent is withdrawn. If You withdraw Your consent, We may not be able to provide certain functionalities and / or address Your application and / or recruitment process to You. We will advise You if this is the case at the time You withdraw Your consent.
- Right to lodge a complaint to the data protection authority. You have the right to lodge a complaint about Our processing of Your personal data to the data protection authority responsible for data protection issues. The local data protection authority is the FDPIC at edoeb.admin.ch or at +41 (0)58 462 43 95.
Exercising Your data protection rights. You may request further information about this Privacy Notice and / or exercise Your data protection rights by contacting Us at dpo@verisure.com, Chemin Jean-Baptiste Vandelle 3A, 1290 Versoix, Switzerland, and / or by accessing to Our career data protection centre (if You have provided Us Your email address).
Please note We may need to request specific information from You to help Us confirm Your identity and ensure Your exercise of Your data protection rights. This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. We may also contact You to ask You for further information in relation to Your request to speed up Our response.
We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally, it could take Us longer than a month if Your request is particularly complex or You have made several requests. In these cases, We will notify You and keep You updated.
